Thanks to the vicissitudes of grain and sandblasting, it’s impossible for me to determine if this is a 1959 or a 1969 piece. There is nothing wrong with the nomenclature…it simply was stamped over a natural depression in the blast, so if there is a line under the 9, which would indicate a 1959 piece, that underline is lost in the depths of the depression. Hence, you get the benefit of the doubt and 1969 pricing. The pipe is in excellent condition. The rim is clean and crisp; near new, really. Likewise the stem. To use a term I haven’t heard in a while, it’s cherry. I am far from certain that this pipe was ever smoked. Grp. 4.
