This Grp. 6 size Willmer is in excellent, original condition. The “W” is on the top of the ebonite stem and the grain quality certainly qualifies the pipe for the AA designation. Since I never heard of Willmer until about 1980 (give or take a year or two) I thought, as did others, apparently, that it was an outgrowth of the Charatan takeover by Dunhill. So much topnotch straight grain, and their shapes, made it seem like the great old Charatan briar had found a new hom. According to the article on Pipedia, that is not the case and Willmer had been around since the 1920s. Regardless, the pipes sported excellent grain.
